Toronto, is a northern city that experiences very warm summers and long, cold winters. During the winter, you will need a warm coat, gloves or mittens, a scarf and hat as well as a good pair of waterproof boots. An average temperature for January is about -4 to -10 Celsius. A few days each winter where the temperature and wind chill combine to make the temperature drop to -18 or -20. But there are lots of winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding and skating that take advantage of the cold climate.
While our winters can be cold, Toronto’s summer season is very pleasant and quite warm. From the lows of January and February, you’ll find much higher temperatures in July and August averaging about 22 Celsius. We will even have the odd day that reaches the low thirties, due to our humidity. The summers here in Toronto include activities such as swimming, going to the beach, cycling, hiking and tennis.
